Illinois State University’s campus is being filled with great anticipation for the upcoming Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference (MBLGTACC). MBLGTACC started in 1993 and is now the largest LGBTQ college conference in the nation. Overall, despite annual theme changes, MBLGTACC has always served to further educate and unify the LGBTQ community while providing a safe space that fosters inclusion.

MBLGTACC 2015 will be held February 13–15 at Illinois State and will be hosted by Illinois State students and staff. This three-day conference is expected to attract more than 2,000 attendees from several states. Workshop topics include but are not limited to the following layers that intersect with LGBTQ: race, ethnicity, sex, gender, ability/disability, sexual orientation and affectional orientation. Some workshops may focus topics that impact the LGBTQ community and have contributed to its historical disenfranchisement. Keynote speakers and performers for MBLGTACC 2015 include Laverne Cox, Bianca del Rio, and Kit Yan.

The Illinois State women’s and gender studies (WGS) program is excited to serve as one of the MBLGTACC 2015 sponsors.
