This summer, Dave Luebke ’97 was recognized as the 2011-12 Lincoln-Way Central High School Teacher of the Year.

The award recipient is chosen by the school’s teachers and is a true testament to Luebke’s efforts with his students and colleagues.

Luebke earned a bachelor of science in special education from the College of Education in 1997. He also earned a master’s degree in educational administration from Governors State University in 2004. During  his 12 years of teaching at Lincoln-Way Central, Luebke served in many other roles, including the wrestling and football coach.

Luebke, who is now a dean at the school, is also vital to his school’s student credit recovery program. The program helps to ensure students that have fallen behind can graduate.

“My favorite part of teaching is working with kids who need extra help, then seeing them be successful,” said Luebke.
