The College of Education will host the fifth annual Teaching in the 21st Century Conference (T21CON) on Thursday, November 6, in the Bone Student Center. T21Con is free to attend, and offers hands-on, engaging learning opportunities that help current and aspiring educators to gain an edge in using technology in the classroom. Registration is required.

Keynote

T21CON is pleased to announce this year’s keynote speaker: Lauren (Wichmann) Hoeft ’07! Her presentation is titled “The Technology-Infused Educator.” Hoeft is an Illinois State alumna and serves as a technology coach for Prairie Elementary School in Buffalo Grove. Hoeft was also a finalist for the 2015 Illinois Teacher of the Year award. She earned a master’s degree in educational technology, and works with teachers to seamlessly integrate technology and differentiate with technology in the classroom.

Presenters

T21CON presenters are P-12 educators with extensive experience integrating technology into their own classroom and providing coaching to fellow teachers. Presenters come from all different disciplines and grade levels, and this year’s session topics include augmented reality lesson plans, using 21st century tools to improve reading instruction, setting up a paperless classroom, and more!

Exhibitors

Local and national technology vendors will host interactive exhibits featuring the latest and greatest programs and gadgets for current and aspiring educators. This year’s vendors include Microsoft, MasteryConnect, Normal Gadgets, Teacher Innovations’ Planbook, and more! Illinois State’s education-focused registered student organizations will also be on hand to talk to students on how they can get involved on campus and in the community.

Prizes

As always, T21CON will be giving away high-tech prizes! Past prizes have included gaming systems, tablet computers, and more. The more presentations and exhibitors attendees see, the better prizes they can win!
