Ed Reitz of the Mennonite College of Nursing (MCN) has been awarded an Illinois Board of Higher Education Nurse Educator Fellowship.

An assistant professor at Illinois State, Reitz holds a doctorate in administrative nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an MBA from Illinois State University. In addition, he also received a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, as well as his bachelor of science in nursing from Illinois State. He is a board certified advanced nurse executive. His research interests are strategies for improving nurse retention.

Reitz received the Kathleen Hogan Faculty Development Award in 2011 and was honored with the 2011 Book of the Year Award from the American Journal of Nursing. He is also a recipient of the Coleman Fellowship interdisciplinary program that promotes entrepreneurship.

Reitz has been published in journals including Journal of Professional Nursing, Geriatric Nursing, Nursing Forum and Nursing Administrative Quarterly.  He has also presented at conferences such as Midwest Nursing Research Society, Council for the Advancement of Nursing Sciences and the Gerontological Society of America.
