NORMAL — Watterson Towers has been home for thousands of Illinois State students, dating back to the 1960s.

As Watterson’s interior has evolved through the years because of renovation, its towering presence on the Illinois State campus has remained unchanged. Watterson Towers is one of the tallest residence halls in the world, standing at 28 stories. It opened in 1968.

With some help from the Dr. Jo Ann Rayfield Archives at Milner Library, the STATEside crew compiled some of our favorite Watterson photos—then and now.
