The School of Theatre and Dance at Illinois State University will showcase the talents of its students, faculty, and guest artist in Dance Theatre’s Spring Dance Concert. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. April 23, 24, and 25, with a 2 p.m. matinee on April 25. All performances will be in the University’s Center for the Performing Arts Theatre.

Tickets are $17 for adults and $12 for students and seniors, and can be purchased at the College of Fine Arts Box Office, located in the Center for the Performing Arts; by phone at (309) 438-2535; or online at http://www.ticketmaster.com.

The Spring Dance Concert will feature new works by dance faculty members Greg Merriman, Jessica Riss-Waltrip, Sara Semonis, and Darby Wilde. The concert will also feature pieces choreographed by dance students Crystal Poska and Shelby Mitsdarffer.

Typically, all dancers are student members of Dance Theatre, the pre-professional dance company in the School of Theatre and Dance. However, this year the concert will also include dancers from Collin College in Plano, Texas. Dance faculty member Tiffanee Arnold has choreographed two pieces for the concert, one with a cast of Dance Theatre students, the other with student dancers from Collin College. School of Theatre and Dance students had the opportunity to work with Arnold earlier in the semester during her seven-day visit to Normal. Dancers will get another chance to take classes with Arnold and her students during the week of the concert.

The Spring Dance Concert’s final performance coincides with the start of National Dance Week.
