Students and alumni seeking full-time job opportunities in all industries and majors are invited to the Career Center’s Fall Career Fair on Thursday, October 8, 2015, from 4–7 p.m. in the Brown Ballroom at the Bone Student Center.

Recruiters will come from a number of entities, including Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, local businesses, hospitals, and government agencies.

“These companies not only represent a wide variety of industries, but they are also looking for a variety of majors as well,” said Career Center Acting Director Pamela Cooper. “The Fall Career Fair gives students from all majors an opportunity to talk to employers from a variety of industries, not just those directly in their major. Many companies are seeking candidates for various types of positions and want to meet candidates from a variety of fields.”

Fair preparation

To help students prepare, the Career Center is hosting InstaCareer, a career preparation session, on September 10 and September 30 from 4–7 p.m. in the Bone Student Center. Participants will rotate through various stations to learn how to introduce themselves to employers, how to make a good first impression, dress appropriately, and how to research and follow-up with employers after career events. Students will hear from actual recruiters and Career Center staff, and will also have the chance to have their resume reviewed and participate in practice interviews.

The Career Center offers these additional resources to help students prepare for the career fair:

  • Career Resource Guide — Full of helpful tips on how to prepare for the fair, how to develop a 30-second pitch about yourself to employers, and a list view of sample interview questions.
  • Career fair video — See a fair in action and learn how to prepare.
  • Interview Stream — Use our online tool to practice your interview from your own computer, and select questions customized to your position or industry.

Students attending the fairs need to bring their Redbird ID card and plenty of copies of their resume, and should view the list of the registered employers before the fair to identify who they want to meet and to learn about their company and openings. Students can also order free business cards to distribute to employers and can print out their resume on free resume paper through the Career Center.

Employers

Employers interested in attending this event to meet with candidates must register in advance. Registration is available on the Career Center website.
