This course continues the basics of creating and modifying charts that began in Excel: Level 1. Also explore useful tools like filtering, which make viewing data accessible at a glance, and pivot tables to summarize values.

Your Classroom Technology Policy

Research shows that students respond better when instructors set clear guidelines about the use of mobile technology—laptops, tablets, and smartphones—in the classroom. But you don’t have to resign yourself to teaching in spite of digital distractions. In this workshop, investigate students’ biases about technology in the classroom and use recent studies on students’ attitudes to help you craft your own classroom technology policy. Discover ways to collaborate with students at the start of the semester to create agreement over what is, and is not, the appropriate use of technology in your classroom.

Applying the Quality Matters Rubric

This special workshop introduces you to the Quality Matters rubric and how to use it to ensure an online course is truly meeting the desired learning outcomes. As a service to University instructors, the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology will offer this workshop free of charge to tenure track and NTT faculty. Those who successfully complete the workshop will receive a Quality Matters certificate of completion.

Too often faculty treat curriculum development, assessment, and strategic planning as distinct endeavors that take away from their primary mission in higher education. Discover how the purposeful integration of these three processes can actually lead to a more engaged faculty and better outcomes for students. Wikis and Online Collaboration

In this session, you will explore wikis and other useful online collaboration tools like VoiceThread and learn the pedagogical principles that can make them highly effective learning environments. You’ll also look at ways to tie in these environments with your ReggieNet course site, giving your students an easy, centralized way to access these exciting tools.
