Deneca Avant, SWK, published “Teaching NoteUsing Problem-based Learning to Illustrate the Concepts of Privilege and Oppression” in the Journal of Social Work Education.

L.J Zigerell, Politics and Government, published a guest post in the Washington Post’s political science blog, the Monkey Cage. The guest post concerned the recent controversy over the Confederate battle flag.

Steven Peters and Marjorie Jones, CHE, published “A Biochemical Mini Research Project for the Characterization, Using Spectroscopy, Chromatography, and Cyclic Voltammetry, of Vitamin E Extracted from Foods,” in the The Chemical Educator. Peters, also co-authored “Tris-[8]annulenyl Isocyanurate Trianion Triradical and Hexa-anion from the Alkali Metal Reduction of [8]Annulenyl Isocyanate” for the Journal of Organic Chemistry.

Presentations
Two members of the Department of Chemistry faculty presented at the 227th meeting of The Electrochemical Society (ECS) in Chicago. Eirin C. Sullivan presented “Investigation of Na3W1-xMoxO4F and Na2W1-xMoxO4 as Novel Phosphor Materials,” and Timothy Lash presented “Out of the Blue! Azuliporphyrins and Related Azulene-Containing Porphyrinoids.”

Roger Anderson, BIO emeritus, presented “Effects of Eleven Year (2004-2014) Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata) Removal on Native Vegetation” at the Ecological Society of America 100th Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Md.

Honors
Susan Hildebrandt, LAN, received national recognition from The American Council of Teachers of Foreign Languages as part of a Global Engagement Initiative for her work at the Unity Community Center.  

Jennifer Ward, MCN, was recently awarded as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).
